Sam began her career as a teacher in New York City and has over 15 years of experience in education spanning policy, advocacy, data science, technology, and parent engagement. She has been nationally recognized for her work in accountability and measurement in K-12 education.
Prior to joining Entangled, Sam served as Chief Strategy Officer at GreatSchools, the leading source of K12 education and resources for parents, reaching over half of U.S. families with school-age children. Over her seven year tenure at GreatSchools, Sam led the organization’s initiatives to empower parents and build equitable access to educational opportunity. Previously, Sam has served as the director of accountability for the California Charter Schools Association, a strategic consultant for district improvement in Los Angeles, and a founding teacher and educational program designer at a high school for students with special needs.
She earned her Masters of Public Policy from the University of California, Los Angeles and B.A. from Pomona College. She sits on the Board of the Mission Preparatory School in San Francisco. Sam lives with her husband and two daughters in Berkeley, CA.
